Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued in Greater Danbury + Putnam County
Well, even though yesterday was one of the nicest days of the year so far, the cold has rolled in and now it looks like we're going to see another wintry mix.
According to the National Weather Service, a Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued for the Greater Danbury area, Northern Fairfield County, Putnam County and Westchester County, with a winter weather advisory going into effect from 9:00 PM Sunday (Feb. 17) through 10:00 AM Monday (Feb. 18). The NWS predicts that we'll see snow before 2:00 AM. Then as the late night/early morning goes on, the snow will mix with freezing rain and sleet, which can obviously cause some sloppy and slippery conditions.
As the temperatures fluctuate a bit throughout the day on George Washington's birthday, a bit more snow and sleet could turn to rain after 5:00 PM, with a chance of snow showers here and there.
By Monday night, conditions will clear, but the temperature could go as low as 16 degrees, so watch out for the ice.
We'll be sure to keep the forecast updated as more information rolls in.
