I-95 Exclusive: Felipe Esparza Talks Bruce Lee, and Stand-Up Life
Felipe Esparza is one of the hottest comedians in the country right now. Known for his raw, honest humor and unique storytelling style, Felipe first rose to fame after winning Last Comic Standing and has since built a loyal fanbase with his hit Netflix specials, including "Raging Fool," which has been packing venues across the U.S.

He joined us on the Thursday, May 29th edition of the I-95 Morning Show to promote his upcoming Connecticut dates at the Hartford Funny Bone, happening September 19th and 20th. This was our favorite moment from that chat.
Lou: Is there a part of the country you look forward to touching down in when you're on tour because of the crowds, restaurants or activities available to you?
Felipe: "I like going to Seattle, the Neptune Theater only because that is where Bruce Lee is buried."
Lou: Really, Bruce Lee is buried in Seattle?
Felipe: "Yeah, there is directions to go see his gravesite, and after that you can shoot on down and go see Kurt Cobain too."
Lou: So, were you a big Bruce Lee guy?
Felipe: "Yeah man! Enter the Dragon, bro I saw it in ten different languages."
Lou: Did it translate to wanting to do martial arts? Did you ever take it?
Felipe: "When I was a little kid bro they would show Kung Fu week, I would go to school with my num-chuks in my bag and come home with ripped pants."
Lou: Kung Fu week is a sweaty week when you're a kid.
Felipe: "Yeah man, Kung Fu week was the only week where every kid in America would take the chain off the door to make num-chuks."
Dave: I whacked myself in the nuts so many times trying to do that.
Felipe: "Yeah my mom was trying to sweep the house with half of a broom after I came through with the num-chuks."
Lou: Back in the 80s when Karate Kid came out, everyone started doing karate. Everyone had a sensei, although the sensei's here in the states, they were all like alcoholics that would smoke cigarettes and were missing a leg. It was like who the f-- are you fighting?
Felipe: "I know man I was talking karate from some big Mexican guy who hates mariachi or something."
