Greater Danbury Fire Companies Join Forces to Battle Brookfield Blaze

Multiple fire companies from all over the Greater Danbury area came together as one to battle a large fire that broke out in Brookfield Tuesday (March 26).

According to a social media post from the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company, both of the town's fire crews responded to 9 Parker Hill Rd. just before 3:00 PM as the result of a reported brush fire that was very close to a building.

When they arrived, Brookfield's Bravest realized that a structure fire had broken out inside of a home that had been currently under construction. At that point, the blaze prompted Assistant Fire Chief Ellis to strike a second alarm, which brought in crews from Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Co. in Bethel, Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Co. in Newtown, Newtown Hook & Ladder, Dodgingtown Volunteer Fire Co. of Newtown, Sandy Hook Fire & Rescue, Botsford Fire & Rescue, the Water Witch Hose Co. in New Milford and the Danbury Fire Department.

Since the area around the structure fire was not equipped with fire hydrants, the firefighters, who were operating under the command of Chief Gravius, used water from local tankers to knock the blaze down. Everything was officially under control at around 6:00 PM Tuesday evening.

The Brookfield VFD also acknowledged that the Roxbury Ambulance Association, Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Department, The Brookfield PD, Brookfield Public Works and Vintech Management all assisted the responding companies in their efforts.
