Well here's some of the best news that I've stumbled across today - A hidden gem in New Preston that delighted the commuters along 202 with roadside street food and Italian specialties will reopen next month.

Italian Al's is a local food truck that found a unique piece of land beside the established sit-down 202 Tavern restaurant along Rt. 202/New Milford Turnpike in New Preston. Just over three weeks ago on July 26, Italian Al's announced via their social media page that "Due to a family illness, we regret to inform you that Italian Al's will be closing our location in New Preston, CT."  The statement went on saying that it was a very difficult, but necessary decision that was made in order to spend precious time with their loved one, and concluded with a heartfelt thank you to all of their loyal customers.

Well, here's the good news - Italian Al's shared an update yesterday morning (August 20) which states -

"Dear valued customers, due to a family illness, we had to make the difficult decision to close our business. Now, circumstances have changed, and we are thrilled to announce that we will be reopening sometime next month, (September 2024), back in our same location on 202 in New Preston, CT."

My hope is that "Circumstances have changed" means "It was a much quicker recovery than we expected". As sad as I was that the best fried dough in New Preston's history had disappeared, I will always respect a business owner that chooses family over profits. We'll see you soon Italian Al.
