The Connecticut State Police have just announced the arrest of a 40-year-old man from Goshen following an investigation into animal cruelty, and the details uncovered during the investigation will break your heart.

According to the redacted arrest warrant by the Connecticut State Police - Troop B on cspnews.org, Tyler Grimes, 40, of Sharon Turnpike in Sharon was taken into custody on Friday, February 14, 2025 following a six-month investigation by Goshen Animal Control Officer Graham and CSP Troopers. The warrant details the deplorable conditions that investigators encountered during a wellness check in August 2024, and multiple attempts by Graham to offer assistance prior to Grimes' arrest. The warrant basically describes a 'Hoarder' home, filled with garbage, without copper pipes or running water, that was not suitable for human or animal habitation.

Investigators allegedly discovered a deceased 3-year-old pitbull named 'Harlem' that was surrounded by it's own intestines, and fecal matter. Investigators estimate that 'Harlem' had been left like that for around a month. Thankfully, Officers were able to rescue an emaciated cat named 'Little Cat' and a malnourished pitbull named 'Gonzo' from the residence. According to the report, a medical examination found that 'Gonzo' nails were so overgrown that they deformed his feet, and an ear infection was so chronic that one of his ear canals was closed shut. "Little Cat' was severely malnourished and dehydrated also upon examination.

Grimes was arrested in Torrington, has been charged with Cruelty to Animals, held on a $75,000 cash/surety bond, and was scheduled to appear in Torrington Superior Court at 10AM this morning. There was no information regarding "Little Cat' or 'Gonzo', I hope that they've been renamed, rehomed, and completely recovered.
