On Monday, July 13, 2020, the debris that had fallen into the historic Hearthstone Castle was cleaned up. According to CT Post, the cleanup was considered the first phase of the city's goal to make the structure safe.

Almost two years have gone by without any word from city officials about what's next for Danbury's crown jewel. I recently reached out to Danbury Mayor Dean Esposito, who told me they are "currently waiting on a Phase 2 Environmental Study for that cleanup."

The photo gallery that accompanies this article will show you photos before the Phase One cleanup and then the after pictures when a fence was constructed around the castle to keep curiosity seekers safe.

The fascinating story behind this historical landmark will be told as you browse through the 20 photos thanks to Explore New England and LC Explores. Stay with the tour, please.
