Enfield Police are looking to the public for answers on why a large German Shepherd was left abandoned in a small cage over the weekend.

The male German Shepherd was found Saturday in a cage down an embankment, according to Enfield police. They did not say where exactly in town the dog was found.

The good news is that after being discovered in the cage, the dog appeared to be healthy. According to Police, he was also wearing a blue collar with a black clasp.

The dog was taken to a veterinarian and was being treated for dehydration, but should be fine and make a full recovery.

Enfield Police are asking for the public's help in finding the owner of the dog, or any other information regarding this case.

Police say the dog was very friendly, but scared, and ask anyone who may know the dog to contact them at the number in their Facebook post. They also note that at this time, the dog is not up for adoption.
