Man Arrested After Alleged Road Rage Incident on I-95 in Milford
The Connecticut State Police have arrested a 23-year-old man from Georgia after he allegedly flashed a gun during a reported road rage that happened on the southbound side of the Connecticut Turnpike (I-95) in Fairfield County.
According to the Connecticut State Police - Troop G, at 11:09 PM Friday night, June 11, 2021, Troop G Dispatch received a 911 complaint from a motorist that they had just had a gun pulled on them during a road rage incident.
The complainant was reportedly following the accused vehicle southbound on I-95 in Milford, in the vicinity of Exit 34, which is just prior to the Moses Wheeler Bridge. The vehicle was described as a blue Hyundai with Georgia plates. Troopers were able to catch up to the vehicles around Exit 24 of 95 southbound, and troopers were able to stop the vehicle at the Fairfield Rest Stop.
The operator of the Hyundai was found to allegedly be in possession of a high capacity magazine on his person, and after a search of the vehicle, a loaded Ruger .22 Charger pistol, with a loaded high capacity magazine was allegedly found in the back seat.
Dariel Pope, 23, of Warner Robbins, Georgia, was arrested and faces numerous charges:
- Possession of a Weapon in a Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine
- Breach of Peace, 2nd Degree
- Threatening, 2nd Degree
- Reckless Endangerment, 1st Degree
- Risk of Injury to a Child
Pope was held on a $50,000 surety bond, transported to Bridgeport Correctional Center and appeared in Milford Superior Court to face the charges this morning.
