Gas Spill on Route 7 in Brookfield, FD Issues Important Reminder

A fuel spill along the shoulder of Route 7 South in Brookfield caused a bit of disruption to traffic and also prompted an important reminder from a local fire department.

According to the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company, a truck's ruptured fuel tank reportedly sent about 15-20 gallons of gas spilling onto the side of the "Super 7" roadway Sunday afternoon (August 4).

As the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and the Connecticut State Police were notified of the spill, crews including Car 8, Rescue 3, Engine 4 and Red Grass of the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Co. set up a long traffic break (pictured above) to clean up the large puddles of gas that gathered along the shoulder of the roadway.

Once the spill was cleaned and that section of route 7 was completely opening up for travel, the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Co. took the opportunity to remind drivers to everything in their power to slow down and safely move over whenever approaching some sort of construction, clean up or traffic stop.
