A terrible blaze appears to have completely destroyed a Candlewood Lake Road home in Brookfield.

As reported in the early part of Saturday evening (November 17), both the Candlewood Volunteer Fire Company and the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company responded to what's being described as a "fully involved" fire at 160 Candlewood Lake Rd. at around 5:20 PM.

Upon arrival at the single story home, first responders located one male who had suffered burns and was immediately transported to Danbury hospital.

Because the fire was already burning at a high volume, the Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Company and the Germantown Volunteer Fire Company provided tankers and an RIT Crew to assist and provide mutual aid.

As the local fire companies did everything in their power to fight the blaze that had apparently engulfed the entire Candlewood Lake Rd. home, the Brookfield PD says that the local public works department also responded to scene in order to salt the roadway so that the freezing water did not cause any concern.

Through the incredible teamwork and determination of our community's first responders, the fire was reportedly under control within 30 minutes, but not before it caused very serious damage to the one-story home.

Thankfully, no personnel were injured at the scene and the cause of the fire is currently being investigated by the Brookfield Fire Marshal's Office.
