The First Predicted Frost for Danbury is Sooner Than You Think
Me internally yelling at myself - can we not think about winter yet? I'm still trying to take in all of the summer we have left. Our seasons are all out of whack now in Connecticut so I never really know when it starts getting cooler.
Don't get me wrong, I love fall, but when I was younger, I remember fall being September/October and then November/December turned to winter and I remember having so many snow days. Now, it's not really like that. I feel like now, we don't really see snow until maybe December and then into those January and February months, sometimes April too.
I decided to check out the Farmer's Almanac to see what we were working with this winter when it came to weather. The Farmer's Almanac has been predicting weather for a long time now, since 1792, as it was originally used for farmers and gardeners to plan their year ahead. They are able to predict weather based on their method of solar science, climatology, and meteorology.
They have officially put out their list of predictions for the first frost of the season. Is that something I want to think about in the beginning of August? Not really. But time goes by fast and it'll be here before we know it.
I was trying to remember when the first frost was last year, but I can't remember. When I see these dates, it scares me because it's really not that far away. The Farmer's Almanac predicted that Danbury will have its first frost on October 14. That's only 2 months away.
It looks like we need to take August to enjoy all of the warmth we have left. Our week of rain hasn't helped, but hopefully the rest of August and September will be blue skies and warm weather.
I'm not ready for snow shovels and defrosting my car every morning. What about you?
