Exclusive: Mark Farner Has Hope For A Grand Funk Reunion
Mark Farner has a brand new album dropping on November 12th called "Closer to my Home" and it features the 55th Anniversary re-record of the hit "I'm Your Captain."
The Grand Funk Railroad front man joined us on the Friday (11/07/24) edition of the I-95 Morning Show to promote the new album. During our chat Mark was very candid about the rift between the original members of Grand Funk Railroad. He talked about the possibility of clearing the air with the other original members.
Lou: I hope this is not a sore subject but you and the rest of Grand Funk Railroad reunited back in the late 90s and then things went sort of south from there and a battle ensued. Do you hold out hope that you and the other members will eventually be able to patch things up?
Mark: "Well I've always held onto that because I'm a key proponent for forgiveness. Which, love is defined in forgiveness and that is what we all need to do with one another in any kind of relationship. Somebody said putting the band back together like the Beatles, dude I wanted the Beatles to get back together in the worst way because I wanted to see them on stage. I wanted to, I'm a Beatles fan so I can, from a fan's standpoint I can really see why people that are Funk fans want to see the original three. There's only three people in the world that can make that noise and I don't care, you can hire gunslingers but you're not going to come up with the same sound and there's a lot of bands out there who say they are this or that but they're really not, you're going to see a tribute band. I want to put the real band back out there for the real fans, you know, before one of us stops sucking air."
Mark Farner is coming to the Ridgefield Playhouse on Thursday, December 5th, 2024
