Elephant’s Trunk in New Milford Called Greatest Flea Market in the East
It's not everyday a Greater Danbury institution gets national recognition for its art or entertainment.

Which is why I think it's pretty cool that it just happened for The Elephant's Trunk Flea Market in New Milford.
Thrillist is a online magazine that tells people where to eat, drink, sleep and play. They have articles that highlight the best vendors at Lollapalooza, a guide for women's soccer fans visiting Phoenix and the nation's best destinations for fly fishing. They also have an article titled: "The East Coast’s Greatest Flea Market Is in New Milford, Connecticut."
Not only does the author Kelsey Allen call the Elephant's Trunk the best flea market on the East Coast, but she says New Milford is charming and unpretentious. Allen further cements her adoration for the Elephant's Trunk, writing:
You’ll find yourself striking up conversations with the knowledgeable vendors, made up primarily of locals with a genuine interest in their pieces who often make it a family affair by selling alongside their children.
It’s absolutely necessary to at least peruse each stall; even if one doesn’t pique your initial interest, each is rich with treasures you’re unlikely to find anywhere else. Sift through piles of antique jewelry, vintage Life magazines from ’60s, deliciously worn-in leather jackets, and a plethora of unique, funky glassware.
Maybe New Milford really is "The Best Town in the USA" like Mayor Pete Bass always says. In fact, we spoke with Mayor Bass about the Thrillist nod on the Tuesday (8/1/23) edition of the I-95 Morning Show. You can hear what he had to say below.
