Heads Up New York, The Dice Man Cometh! Clay Tells I-95 About Light Sparring With Steven Seagal Over Chicken Wings
Andrew Dice Clay, "The Dice Man" Cometh! Dice is coming to the Capitol Theatre in Portchester, NY tonight (9/13/24) for one show! Ahead of this monster gig, Dice joined us on the I-95 Morning Show for a chat about life, family and career.
We talked about his new project with Eddie Murphy and sharing chicken/karate with Steven Seagal.
Lou: I read that you're going to be in the new Eddie Murphy movie "The Pickup." How does that work, does he call you?
Dice: "Well, he didn’t call, but when I heard it was him and that he wanted me to do this thing, it was like, you know, I always loved Eddie. He was always very cool with me, even when I went through what I would call my own personal cancel culture about 37 years ago. He was really the only comic who would take the time to talk to me about it and back me up. He’d come out on The Arsenio Hall Show and say, ‘I don’t care what people say; this guy is funny. I’m going to see him at the L.A. Forum,’ because back then I really went through a living hell being the first comic to become an arena comic."
Lou: By the way, you've been pumpin'? You look good, you look like you lost some weight, your arms look bigger, you're jacked up!
Dice: "You know what? I love exercise. People have been asking me that lately, and I really just enjoy it. That is like my hobby—exercise. Yeah, I like it. I’m not into sports; when people start talking to me about their favorite team, I’m like, ‘Yeah, I gotta go.’ You see, I like doing things. I was never into sports my whole life, but I do love being in the gym and exercising."
Lou: That's good man, that's really good. You're going to live a long life that way, you don't do karate or anything do you?
Dice: "No, we're not going to get into fighting now..."
Lou: No, I don't mean that. Did you ever meet that Steven Seagal guy? Is he a weirdo?
Dice: "Uh, yes. No, the times I hung out with him—this was years ago—it was all good. He threw me down once or twice."
Lou: he threw you down?
Dice: "No, I’m serious. I asked him to; I wanted to. I was eating a chicken wing at the time, and we were just talking about it, you know? He goes, ‘Alright, get up,’ and the guy put me down in a second—he knows his stuff. I haven’t seen him in forever, but I couldn’t believe how fast he could move. We were in his office—actually, in his office on one of the movie lots in L.A.—and I was talking to him about all of that. He said, ‘Go ahead, stand up.’ I said, ‘I’m eating a chicken wing!’ He replied, ‘Well, put the chicken wing down.’ I said, ‘It’s really good; it’s gonna get cold.’ He said, ‘It’s not gonna get cold; this will take a second.’ And he put me down. I went back to the chicken wing—it was so good."
Lou: What was he eating? Now I'm curious.
Lou: Yeah, he's not known for his comedy.
Dice: "Yeah, I was waiting for him to say, ‘Why are you eating the same part of the chicken as me at the same time?’ I would have just said, ‘I don’t know.’ I just wanted to eat the meal at exactly the same pace he was eating it. I didn’t want him to finish the whole chicken while I still had half of mine left. It was really funny. I didn’t want to laugh because he’s a serious guy. I don’t even know why I was there!"
