Recently, I was scrolling through one of the Connecticut Reddit pages when I came across a post that caught my attention. The reason? This person was making a point I've been preaching on my radio show for years: New England and New York have elite bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches, and the rest of the country simply can't compete.

Here’s what Reddit user u/zensnapple had to say:

"Say what you will about Connecticut, our bacon egg and cheese game is on point

I'm making this post at a stoplight after leaving the Mobil gas station in Bridgewater. Connecticut's not perfect, but you can stop at a random gas station here and get a better bacon egg and cheese then you will find anywhere else except New York, their bacon egg and cheese game is on point as well. I've lived in a lot of different corners of this country and none of them can produce a bacon egg and cheese that a random gas station in Connecticut can. I know we've probably had plenty of posts like this here before, but where is your guy's favorite bacon egg and cheese in the state?"

This is so accurate, and honestly, it's hilarious. What makes it even better is that people who leave the Northeast for places like Florida and South Carolina seem to make it their personal mission to rub our noses in the fact that they're enjoying warmer weather.

You know exactly what I'm talking about. It's January, we're freezing our butts off, and suddenly someone who moved south is posting pictures of their swimming pool. Or they send you a screenshot of the forecast showing 76 degrees in February, as if we somehow forgot that Florida is warm. Congratulations, you escaped the cold. Would you like a trophy?

Here's where my bacon, egg and cheese strategy comes in. Whenever one of these sunshine enthusiasts starts showing off, I head out and get myself a beautiful bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. Then I snap a picture and send it right back to them. They can keep the sunshine, the pool and the warm weather. I'll take a perfectly cooked breakfast sandwich any day of the week.

And let's be honest, there's something special about being able to pull into an ordinary Connecticut gas station or deli and walk out with a breakfast sandwich that could ruin you for the versions you'll find elsewhere.

So, feel free to steal my move the next time someone living down south starts bragging about the weather. Send them a picture of your bacon, egg and cheese and remind them that some things are simply better back home.
