Driving on the Edge: Connecticut’s Deadliest Hour Revealed
Those of us who live here know that Connecticut roads can be awfully dangerous but did you know there are specific times of the day when it is most dangerous to drive?

It's true and there was a recent study that set out to find that specific time period here in the Nutmeg State. A company called Tribeca Lawsuit Loans studied data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to identify this time period. They looked at which times of the day saw the most fatal car wrecks between 2017 and 2021. Here is what they learned:
- The nation's most dangerous time period was from 6:00 pm - 6:59 pm
- New York's most dangerous time period was between 5:00 pm - 5:59 pm
- In Connecticut, it is most dangerous time to drive is between 7:00 pm - 7:59 pm
The study says this is because "106 of the 1338 fatal crashes recorded in the state of Connecticut between 2017 and 2021 occurred at the time, which is a percentage of 7.92%, higher than any other time in the day."
I have noticed that "rush hour" appears to start a little later in Connecticut and linger a bit longer. In Downtown Danbury I see the volume pick up at a normal time but it seems to hit its fever pitch right around 7 pm and then all hell breaks loose.
Hell breaking loose is a normal thing in Downtown Danbury but you've not seen anything quite like a January evening at 7:30 on Main Street or West Street, it is chaos of the highest order.
When are we supposed to get these flying cars I've been hearing about since I was 8 years old? Don't get me wrong I don't think flight will make everyone safer but it will get a few of these maniacs off the road so I have room to drive like a human. Then, all I need to worry about is car parts raining from the skies.
