Divers Find Car in Housatonic, Could Belong to Missing Man
The Connecticut State Police dive team has reportedly located a vehicle that had submerged in the Housatonic River and it may belong to man who's been reported missing.
As we reported earlier today, the search for the vehicle was to be resumed this morning by the State Police after local crews from North Canaan and Norfolk worked throughout the overnight hours in searched the RT. 44 and Lawerence Ave section of the Housatonic River in North Canaan.
According to an official release from the CT State Police, the search was prompted when police in Sheffield, MA received a call that 60-year-old German Perez had left Lakeville, CT in his 2000 black Toyota Tundra at around 6:00 PM Tuesday (September 25) but never returned home as expected.
As police were on the lookout for Perez, they spotted an area along Route 44 that had some damage to the guardrail, where there was evidence that a "vehicle may have gone off of the roadway and into the Housatonic River".
As of the time of this writing, police have confirmed that they found a vehicle that was submerged in the river, but have not confirmed that it in fact belongs to German Perez.
We'll be sure to keep you updated as more information rolls in.
