Danbury’s Il Bacio Named Best Ice Cream In Fairfield County
Tony and Gina have to be crazy happy today, because Il Bacio in Danbury was just voted the best Ice Cream in Fairfield County.
It's always great when people love what you do, especially when they love your product better then anyone else's.
That's exactly what happened to Il Bacio Ice Cream Shop in Danbury. In a contest sponsored by the Fairfield Daily Voice, they beat out competitors from all over Fairfield County.
As you know, people will drive for miles to sink their taste buds into some creamy goodness, and apparently, Il Bacio has a reputation County wide. They were up against some tough competition -- places like Timothy's in Bridgeport, Ferris Acres Creamery in Newtown, Milkcraft in Fairfield, Cream and Sugar Cafe in Bethel, and Saugatuck Sweets in Fairfield, and Westport.
In the recent vote, Il Bacio took the top honors with 47% of the vote. The nearest competitor was Saugatuck Sweets with 40% of the vote.
I've been friends with both Tony and Gina for many years now and I have to say, you can't beat their homemade flavors. They've been making their own Ice Cream for over two decades, and each flavor is made from scratch. Tony spends hours in the back room taking his creations from an idea on paper to the actual cone or cup. "Cardiac Arrest" is an all time favorite, made from a mix of dark and milk chocolates. I was even honored to be able to name one of my Il Bacio favorites, a mix of caramel and vanilla. We called it "Dream Cream".
I talked with Tony right after the win and as you can expect he was very proud:
It feels great, everyone here really worked for this win. It's a true team effort. We have the best customers, and the best employees. When you come down to it though, it's really up to the customers, and they spoke.
If you've never tried Il Bacio, it's worth the trip from anywhere. You'll find them at 30 Germantown Road in Danbury, right in the Germantown Plaza.
