Danbury Police: Juvenile Responsible for Last Month’s Shooting
A local young person has been arrested following a lengthy investigation into a shooting that occurred in Danbury last month.
The shooting took place on Thursday, January 17 in the area of Ellsworth Avenue and Hospital Avenue. Police say that there is was one victim who suffered a bullet wound in the arm and was immediately treated at Danbury Hospital.
At the time, the DPD reported that the shooting suspect took off on foot near Wooster Cemetery on Ellsworth Avenue. Since there are two schools within that area, Western Connecticut State University and Ellsworth Avenue Elementary School, the proper security measures were taken, resulting in a brief lock down.
Now, just over one month later, police identified the juvenile male and he was taken into custody this past Monday (February 25). The young man has been charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, unlawful discharge of a firearm, breach of peace, first degree assault and reckless endangerment. In addition to the charges, he has been remanded to the Juvenile Detention Center in Bridgeport.
