Danbury Police Announce Crack Down on Parking Enforcement
For those who live in the downtown section of Danbury, maneuvering your way home and finding an open parking spot can be a challenge, just ask Lou Milano, he'll tell you. Like him, are you sick and tired of delivery trucks and the average Joe double-parking you in? Good news, the Danbury Police Department have announced that they're cracking down all this week on the city's parking scofflaws.
The City of Danbury has just announced via their social media that they've designated June 17-23, 2024 'Parking Enforcement Week' in the city, and it's being brought to you by the Danbury Police Department's Traffic Division. Officers are 'Cracking down' on overall parking enforcement, and illegal handicapped space parking. Specifically, those who park in a space designated for a handicapped person, unauthorized display of a special license plate or placard, and failure to return a plate or placard after being required to do so.
If your vehicle is observed in a handicapped parking space without a valid handicapped placard visible inside the vehicle, or without a special license plate, you will face fines of at least $100.
Per the City of Danbury Police Department, if you see someone illegally parked in a handicapped spot, don't confront them, leave the enforcement to the professionals, call DPD at 203-797-4611.
My mom and dad were both issued handicapped parking placards towards the ends of their lives after suffering from qualifying disabilities. They were both capable of driving independently, and I can tell you from experience that if those special spots were not available at their destinations, they did not attempt the trip.
