Like most businesses, the Danbury Public Library closed its doors to the public back in March due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Today, it was announced in a press release that they will kick-off back to school season by opening its doors once more, starting August 31, by appointment only.

Library Director, Katie Pearson, released a statement,

“We are excited to welcome everyone back to the Library this month. We have missed you! Whether you are a longtime patron of the Library, discovered us virtually during the pandemic, or are just now finding your way to us, we are happy to be here to help you. We encourage everyone to come back into the Library when they feel ready and as always, we are available to help via phone and email.”

The library’s reopening plan includes limited hours of operation, and enhanced safety and health protocols. Visitors are expected to make appointments to use the computers, printing, faxing, browsing the new collection(s), reader’s advisory and reference services.

To make an appointment for one of the above services, please call 203-797-4505 or head to the Danbury Public Library website. Once you arrive, dial the same number and enter extension 3.

Even with these new hours in place, curbside pick-up will still be available to visitors picking up their library orders from Monday to Friday at 10AM-6PM. The library’s digital resources will remain available on the website as well. These items include; virtual tutorials, audiobooks, music, tv, shows, movies, a look into their event calendar, and more.

For those who wish to apply for a library card, the service is also available online. Danbury residents register online, and once processed, the library will send over the card number by email. This will allow patrons to process online orders before receiving the physical card. For more assistance or questions, please call 203.797.4505.
