Danbury Hat Tricks Champions Parade: Everything You Need to Know
The Danbury Hat Tricks won the Commissioner's Cup this past weekend after coming back and defeating the Carolina Thunderbirds.
Since the Sunday evening win, it's been all smiles and celebrations with the biggest yet to come.
Who: You and the Hat Tricks
What: The Danbury Hat Tricks Commissioner's Cup Championship Parade
When: Sunday May 21st, 2023 @1 pm
Where: For that information, we went straight to the top and asked Danbury Mayor Dean Esposito who told us:
"It's actually going to start at the City Hall parking lot, 1 pm on Sunday. And then we're going to march down West Street straight down through Liberty and then turn in front of the ice rink and go to the green and we're going to utilize the bandshell there and give some speeches and honor some people. It's going to be a great day and hopefully all the listeners will show up."
The Mayor went on to speak about the team's accomplishments saying:
"They really played well, I got to go to Friday night's game, my wife and I and it was very exciting. Unfortunately they we had events on Saturday and as we all know Sunday was Mother's Day so priority one there. But they came back and won, they really played aggressive hockey and they were focused. They wanted to win this thing and they did."
He added:
"I have to give a shoutout to the fans, they were the extra player on the ice because they were very vocal, they were loud man. They were blowing the roof off the place, they got the team motivated, I got to talk to some of the players and they really appreciated the fans."
Speaking of the fans, we reached out to one, to get a sense of what this means to them. I asked that question to Hat Tricks Super Fan Ron Rogell who told me:
"I think it's great the city is doing a parade for the team and fans. The team has only been around for 3 years. The first year, we were in 1st place in the league, and then COVID shut everything down. The 2nd year we were still shut down. This year we dominated the league with a record breaking season. We only lost 4 games at home including playoffs. It will be great to see the team honored with the parade."
Rogell never misses a game and even travels to away games to see Hat Tricks hockey.
Pencil this parade into your weekend calendar and witness Hat City history.
