The Danbury Fire Department decided to live by the old mantra, "Carpe Diem," when things didn't didn't exactly go as expected during a residential call this past weekend.

According to a social media post from the department, firefighters were sent over to the apartment building at 36 West Wooster St. on Saturday Morning (March 16) after a fire was reported on someone's stove.

Luckily enough for everyone, the small kitchen fire was out when the crew arrived, leaving them to deal with a "light smoke condition" that was quickly taken care of.

Since they were already in full gear and the ladder truck was in position, the Hat City's Bravest took it upon themselves to keep their skills sharp with a little training time.
