He also attached the above photo in the message. Before we were even able to jump on the air and alert the public, the Danbury Fire Department was on the scene and informing the public via their Facebook page. The post read:

"Fire Department units are currently operating at a vehicle fire on I-84 Westbound in the area of exit 8. The highway is currently closed, use caution in the area."

They attached their own photos to the post.

I reached out to my contact at City Hall, Erin Henry to see if she was able to provide any more information and she e-mailed soon after with the following:

"DFD is still on the scene and 84 is still closed. As soon as I hear back from the crews on scene I will let you know the details."

Later that morning, just prior to 11 am, Henry provided additional photos and a detailed breakdown of the events:

"At approximately 08:15 this morning, the Danbury Fire Department was dispatched to Interstate 84 westbound in the area of exit 8, for the report of a multi-vehicle accident involving a vehicle fire. First arriving units found a commercial landscaping truck fully involved with fire. The accident and vehicle fire were located between the exit 8 off and on ramps, requiring the highway to be shut down for fire apparatus to access the incident. The fire was quickly brought under control while other companies evaluated several parties involved in the accident."

According to our earlier reports, the Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company was the first on the scene, followed by Newtown Hook & Ladder 114. The Firefighter battled a massive blaze at the Newtown building that was once McGuire’s Ale House and Hot Shots II. The F.D.’s brought in an attack line, to fight against the flames and the roof came down.

The dramatic day became big news with locals sharing pictures and videos all over social media. While the Fire Departments were able to finish off the flames, the building was destroyed.
