Police: Danbury Dog Trainer Charged With Animal Cruelty Reportedly Died by Suicide
After being charged with 15 counts of animal cruelty this week, Danbury dog trainer, Eddie Simon has died by suicide.
Known fondly by his friends and associates as "Eddie the Dog Guy," Simon was reportedly charged with 15 counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty charges on Thursday (March 12), according to Danbury Police Detective Mark Williams. Williams told the Newstimes that animal control officers allegedly found "15 poorly cared for dogs on his property."
Now, according to a report by News12, Simon reportedly died by suicide on Friday (March 13) just one day after he was charged. Danbury Police say they received a call on Friday morning from someone who was concerned about Simon's personal safety, and from there, the report says that Bethel police were called in for assistance. Officers then say they tracked Simon to Pawloski Lumber in Bethel, where Simon allegedly took his life.
This is a developing story and we'll be sure to provide further details as information becomes available.
