Connecticut’s Official Favorite Animated Sitcom Is…
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of The Simpsons, a research team set out to find each state's favorite animated sitcom. They first identified the fifteen most popular shows and then used to Google Trends data to determine who was "King of the Hill" in each state.
Connecticut's favorite animated sitcom is Family Guy. There are a few reasons why this could be possible. First, Seth MacFarlane, the show's creator and main star, was born in CT. The second is that the show takes place in New England and has a lot of regional themes Connecticut people can easily relate to.
The Simpsons ended up being the favorite in more states than any other show in the running. South Park and Family Guy did very well, as I would have imagined. The surprise for me was that American Dad had a much stronger showing than I would have thought.
Based on what I know about all the cartoons in question, and what I know about people, the results were predictable. The one glaring surprise was the State of New York, who collectively chose Daria as its favorite animated sitcom. I actually like the show, but it's not exactly relevant.
I love both South Park and Family Guy. In fact, I could not choose my favorite between the two. I'd have to make this a tie, and I don't even believe in ties.
