CT State Police Release Holiday Traffic Enforcement Statistics

After working extensively around the clock with increased traffic safety patrols, the Connecticut State Police have released their enforcement statistics for the 2018 holiday season.

CHRISTMAS ENFORCEMENT:

Between midnight on Thursday into Friday (Dec. 21) and 11:59 PM on Wednesday (Dec. 26), Connecticut State Troopers issued 659 speeding violations, 14 seat belt violations, 55 DUI arrests and 46 violations that are considered to be hazardous, such as cell phone use while driving, unsafe lane changes, tailgating, and failure to signal.

State troopers also investigated 550 car accidents, 60 of which had associated injuries. Out of the accidents, there were three fatalities.

NEW YEAR'S ENFORCEMENT:

Between midnight on Thursday into Friday (Dec. 28) and 11:59 PM on Tuesday (Jan. 1), Connecticut State Troopers issued 480 speeding violations, 14 seat belt violations and 36 DUI arrests. In all, there were 1,516 reported moving violations.

State troopers also investigated 339 car accidents, 54 of which had associated injuries, but no fatalities.

Here is a look back at how these stats compare to the 2017 holiday season.

Connecticut State Troopers issued 465 speeding violations, 13 seat belt violations, 28 DUI arrests, and 1,104 violations that are considered to be hazardous, such as cell phone use while driving, unsafe lane changes, tailgating, and failure to signal.

State troopers also investigated 521 car accidents, 58 of which had associated injuries. Out of the accidents, there was one fatality. 32-year-old Patrick Dunn of New London, passed away after his truck traveled off of Hartford Turnpike in Hampton and struck a house.
