CT State Police Alert Drivers of Traffic Delays This Labor Day Weekend

With Labor Day weekend comes more people, more events, more parties, especially more than what is considered the 'norm' in 2020. This is another one of those holidays we need to be careful about, because a lot of people congregate in the same area. My little PSA to you, is if you are going to be around a lot of people, wear a mask. Weekends like this one is how a spike of COVID can easily happen.

With that, the Connecticut State Police are alerting people that traffic may increase this weekend due to the Labor Day weekend events. Since it's the unofficial last weekend of summer, streets can be congested as it usually translates to beach and family time. Make sure you give yourself enough time to travel to your destination, because traffic delays are expected.

Colonel Stavros Mellekas, commanding officer of the Connecticut State Police, stated, "Even with COVID-19 restrictions, we expect traffic to be heavy during the three-day holiday weekend. We ask all drivers to remember that arriving at their destination safely should be their number one priority. We strongly encourage all drivers to plan for plenty of time to drive, expect traffic delays, and proceed with caution. Obeying the rules of the road is everyone's responsibility".

CT State police reported that starting at 12:01 AM on Wednesday, September 2, and continuing through 11:59 PM on Monday, September 7, troopers from each of the agency's 11 troops will be conducting DUI patrols. Troopers will also be on the waterways patrolling.
