The financial website WalletHub recently conducted an extensive research study to determine which states had the best and the worst public school systems in the country. I'm proud to say that the great State of Connecticut came in at number two behind Massachusetts.

Many other analytical websites focus primarily on a schools' academic performance. Still, at Wallethub, they open up their research to consider the school system's performance, funding, safety, class size and instructor credentials.

In the category  "Highest Reading Test Scores," Connecticut took the #3 spot behind New Jersey and Massachusetts. However, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire tied for first place for the "Highest Median ACT Score."  Connecticut also ranked #1 in the category "Existence of Digital Learning Plan."  For the full report that explains WalletHub's methodology and the experts who participated, check out wallethub.com.

The five states that scored the lowest in the public school rankings were Alabama (47), Alaska (48), Arizona (49), Louisiana (50), and New Mexico (51).
