This morning, my boss walked into my office with the darkest tan I've ever seen on him, and he's always really tan. We made numerous comments about it on the air. Then, minutes later, another colleague walked in with an even darker tan. I've never seen anything quite like it; he was unrecognizable.

The sun has been out in force this summer, making it one of the hottest seasons I can ever remember. Despite this, we have not broken Connecticut's single-day hottest temperature record. That record was set in 1995 in my hometown of Danbury, Connecticut.

The record-breaking temperature of 106 degrees Fahrenheit occurred on July 15, 1995, in the Hat City. This got me thinking about whether that temperature was hot enough to cook an egg on the sidewalk. The short answer is no. According to the American Egg Board via Wonderopolis:

Eggs need to be heated to a temperature between 144° F and 158° F (62.2° C to 70° C) to be cooked.

So, while we may not be frying any sidewalk eggs anytime soon, the conditions in Dubai seem almost perfect. According to the Daily Express US:

Iran and Dubai have been hit hard, with temperatures at the Persian Gulf International Airport in Iran reaching as high as 108 degrees and a heat index of 149 degrees this week. Dubai is also enduring a relentless heat wave, with temperatures reaching as high as 113 degrees and a heat index of 144 degrees.

There is another reason you'll never see pictures of me in Dubai but the most important is the price tag.

Last week, I was on vacation, soaking up the sun and loving it, without a thought about hydration. I paid a high price for that and spent two days walking as if I had a turd in my pants. What's left of my leg muscles seized up for 48 hours. Vacation equals good times and sometimes unexpected pain.

P.S. Alcohol played no role in my hydration issues.
