Cops: Danbury Man Viciously Attacked Victim in Newtown
A Danbury man has been arrested after police say he viciously attacked someone while attempting to rob them in Newtown.
According to a social media post from the Newtown Police Department, 20-year-old Destin Jackson of Danbury was taken into custody with the early Saturday Morning (May 11) after officers worked alongside the Danbury PD to execute an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
Back on Saturday, April 6, the victim was in the parking lot of a shopping center on South Main St., also known as Route 25, in Newtown when Jackson allegedly demanded the unidentified person's keys in an attempt rob the individual.
As one would imagine, the victim was not so quick to offer up his property, so that's when police say Jackson became violent, attacking the innocent person "multiple times with his hands and feet all over the victims head and body." Jackson then allegedly kicked the victim some more once he was on the ground. At that time, the victim was hospitalized and treated for the injuries suffered.
Destin Jackson has been charged with first degree robbery and second degree assault, and is being held at the Newtown PD with a $100,000 court set bond.
Lt. Aaron Bahamonde commended all of the officers involved in the case in the following statement:
Our officers, with officers from the Danbury Police Department, did a great job putting this case together. Utilizing the pieces of evidence together to help identify and arrest a suspect that committed this vicious criminal attack.
We are very happy that justice can be served, for the victim and the community and that this very dangerous individual is off the streets.
