Considering the Possibilities for Waterbury’s Rep-Am Building
Waterbury's clock tower and the building it sits on is on the market. For $5 million dollars, you could own 240 verticle feet of Seth Thomas legacy, the city's old train station, and the building it's newspaper built and kept alive.
It's 2025, the newspaper is under new ownership, and there's a ton of unused space on Meadow Street in Waterbury. The building is listed, and plans have been in the works for this move for a long time. In the near future, you might be able to tell someone "Look for the 240-foot brick clocktower with gargoyles, you can't miss it, I live in that." It's been reported that the building was going on the market, and someone was interested into renovating the former building into housing. I'm sure that is exactly what will happen, but I thought that while it's freshly listed, what should be considered for the space surrounding and supporting one of Connecticut's most striking landmarks.
