Connecticut’s ‘Ethan’s Law’ Grabs the Attention of a Hollywood Star
Actor Paul Rudd has reached out and made a video in support of the Connecticut gun safety storage proposal known as "Ethan's Law".
According to the Ethan's Song Act of Kindness Facebook Page, actor Paul Rudd, (Avengers Endgame, Night at the Museum, 40 Year Old Virgin, Anchorman), posted a video on Wednesday supporting the cause and their upcoming 5K road race in June.
"Ethan's Law" was initially started by Ethan Song's parents after the 15-year-old from Guilford, Connecticut accidentally died of a self-inflicted gun shot wound back in January 2018. Since the tragedy, Kristin and Mike Song have gained national attention and have become advocates for more aggressive gun storage laws since their son's death.
According to CT Post, the proposed law would require all firearms, loaded and unloaded, to be safely stored in homes occupied by minors under 18 years of age.
The current Connecticut law only requires that loaded firearms that are kept in a home be properly stored, but only if a minor is likely to gain access to the firearm without the permission of the parent or guardian of the minor.
On May 7th, Connecticut lawmakers in the House approved the bill by a 127-16 margin, now the bill needs to be approved by the Senate before it's presented to Governor Ned Lamont, who has already said he would sign the bill into law if it's finally approved.
