You win some and you lose some when it comes to our state, am I right?

We have great schools, locations, great places to grow up, but what comes with that? Money, money, money. We've talked about it time and time again, but it still baffles my mind every time I come across something new.

I was scrolling through the internet and came across an article from CNBC about how much a family of 4 needs to make to survive in different states. The first list to pop up was the most expensive states in terms of basic costs. What state happily sat on that list? You guessed it - Connecticut. When will we ever be on a 'cheapest' list? Ha - if only.

There were 5 states on that 'most expensive' list. The most expensive state was Massachusetts with $150,578, Hawaii came next with $147,319, Connecticut followed with $139,924, New York next with $139,504 and the 5th state was California with $138,357. Look at those states we share the list with. They all have huge cities and one of them is pretty much its own island. What's so special about Connecticut?

I always say I give so many props to people that raise families here. It is most definitely not easy and it costs so much money. The biggest kicker for me was that these numbers were just how much you need to make to make ends meet. So nothing extra. What about sports and vacations and family activities? None of that is factored into it.

Personally, I think the numbers should be a bit higher. I'm curious to see what one single person needs to make to live comfortably in this state. You don't want to hear my number, but I definitely think it's up there. I know we always complain, but I don't think it'll ever get better.

On a side note, you can move to Mississippi where it landed as the cheapest to cover the basic needs for a family of four with an annual cost of $88,895.
