A Mixed Bag For Connecticut In New Livability Rankings
If you could live in any state in the US, where would you stay in Connecticut? A new study has just ranked the best states to live in for 2025, and Connecticut has landed right in the middle.
According to Best States to Live In (2025) from WalletHub.com, they've ranked Connecticut just a notch above dead center at #24. I love it here, I think that we are so lucky to live in New England, and I couldn't imagine living in any other area of the country, even when we sit in constant traffic while paying incredibly high taxes. To arrive at their rankings WalletHub compared all 50 states across five key dimensions: Affordability, Economy, Education & Health, Quality of Life, and Safety.
Here's How They Arrived at The Rankings for 2025
Those dimensions were further evaluated using 51 relevant metrics: Housing Affordability, Property Taxes, Household Income, Unemployment Rate, Share of Population Living in Poverty, Population Growth, Entrepreneural Activity, Foreclosure Rate, Food Insecurity, Quality of Public School System, Graduation and Drop Out Rates, Share of Insured Population, Life Expectancy, Commute Times, Quality of Roads, Violent Crime Rates, and Weather.
Connecticut's rankings were a very mixed bag. In Affordability, Connecticut ranked low at #46, and Economy at #36, but our Education and Health's ranking was excellent - ranked #4. Quality of Life was ranked #23, and Safety at #13. Overall Connecticut lands at #24, just beating out Rhode Island at #25. The rest of New England beat Connecticut overall in the rankings.
The overall Best State for 2025 according to WalletHub is our Northern neighbor Massachusetts, followed by Idaho, New Jersey, Wisconsin, and Minnesota rounding out the Top 5. The three worst states for 2025 in the rankings are Arkansas, Louisiana, and New Mexico.
