Connecticut Named One of the Happiest States in America
According to study results from WalletHub/AskThis, Connecticut is officially one of the happiest states in the country. I know — that might sound shocking given how much we all love to complain about taxes, traffic, and property values, but apparently, we’re keeping it light through the agony.

WalletHub compared all 50 states using a mix of “emotional and physical well-being,” “work environment,” and “community and environment.” And somehow, the Nutmeg State landed at #7 overall. Not bad for a place that makes you pay $17 for a sandwich.

So why are we so happy? Experts say it might have something to do with our food and drink. We’ve got top-tier seafood, some of the best craft breweries in the country, and plenty of coastal beauty to enjoy. Connecticut ranked #6 for emotional and physical well-being and also scored well in the work environment category. The only area where we fell short was “community and environment,” which checks out — it’s tough to feel connected when everyone hides behind their castle walls. Even some of our best and brightest (Ethan Carey), don't know their neighbors' names. What's that about New Fairfield?
Here are the top seven happiest states in America, according to WalletHub:
1. Hawaii – Sunshine, ocean, and a permanent vacation vibe.
2. Maryland – Great schools & healthy residents
3. New Jersey – Low childhood trauma & low depression
4. Utah – They’ve got volunteerism, safety, and the fewest hours spent in the office.
5. Delaware – Great beaches, happy workers, and cheaper living than its neighbors.
6. Minnesota – Healthy, active, and emotionally balanced.
7. Connecticut – Seafood, beer, and good vibes (as long as you don’t look at your Eversource bill).
I'm happy, occasionally.
