Connecticut to Get a Professional Lacrosse Team
According to the CT Post, Fairfield will be the new home to the Connecticut Hammerheads, playing in the MLL (Major League Lacrosse).
The team will compete against the existing pro lacrosse teams that include Atlanta Blaze, Boston Cannons, Chesapeake Bayhawks, Denver Outlaws and New York Lizards.
The Hammerheads will play at Fairfield University’s Raffery Stadium, which seats 3,500 fans. They join the league in what will be its 20th season, and the team/University will hold a press conference on February 28 to officially introduce the team to the community and league.
I did not play lacrosse on any level, but many of my friends growing up did and a handful went on to play in college. I would go to all their college games, visit them at their respective colleges and stay for weekends in the "Lax houses." This is an exciting, face paced, sometimes violent sport, and a day out watching a lacrosse game is a day well spent.
Connecticut has another pro sports team and we are lucky for it. You should check out a game when they are up and running.
