Connecticut’s Biggest Fears Revealed — and It’s Not Ghosts
According to new research from Dr. Cinik, America’s scariest monsters aren’t hiding under the bed — they’re living rent-free in our heads. The study looked at Google Trends data from the past six months to figure out what freaks people out most in each state, and the results are pretty revealing just in time for Halloween.

Coming in second is anthropophobia — the fear of people. Honestly, this is the one for me. Post-Covid, I'll do just about anything to steal a weekend at home. Between awkward office small talk and Facebook comment sections, it’s a miracle anyone leaves the house anymore.
So where does Connecticut fall on this fear map? Nutmeggers are apparently most afraid of… claustrophobia, the fear of tight spaces. Makes sense — especially in line at the Main Street, Danbury Walgreen's where everyone seems to have issues comprehending that we do not need to stand on top of one another. If I can feel your breath on my neck, you've failed at life.
Whether you’re afraid of small spaces, large crowds, or the people inside them, this Halloween remember — real fear isn’t in haunted houses. It's in the mundane annoyances real-life brings like group texts, wedding invitations, people leaving voicemails, and being asked to help someone move.
