Two Connecticut Cities Just Made a List of America’s Most Disappointing Places

Remember when you were growing up how the word disappointed just hit harder? Like, if your parents were angry with you, that was one thing. But if they were disappointed… oof. That stung.

Well, America is “disappointed” in two Connecticut cities, at least according to a new article from MSN/Family Vacations USA. They just dropped a list of 23 American cities that disappoint visitors so much they wish they never went. And on that list? Hartford and Bridgeport.

Hartford

Here’s what MSN/Family Vacations USA had to say about the capital city:

“Hartford, despite being the state capital, often leaves visitors wanting more. The city’s historical and financial roots do little to create a vibrant, engaging atmosphere. Attractions are scattered and lack cohesion, making navigation tedious. Limited nightlife and dining options further dim the allure.

Bridgeport

And here’s the take on Connecticut’s largest city:

“Bridgeport, despite being Connecticut’s largest city, often struggles to shake off a reputation of economic hardship. Visitors encounter a mix of urban development and industrial remnants that don’t always inspire exploration. Cultural and recreational options are available but may not meet the dynamic expectations of travelers.

How Big a Deal Is This, Really?

You might be wondering how impressive (or depressing) this “honor” really is. Well, just so you know, there are 1,561 cities in the United States, and this article chose to list 23 of them. Totally random, right? And Connecticut managed to snag two spots on it. Ha! Well done, Nutmeg State.

What About Our Neighbors?

So, how did New York and New Jersey fare on this hall of shame? They didn’t get off easy either. The same list also called out:

  • Buffalo, New York
  • Albany, New York
  • Newark, New Jersey
  • Trenton, New Jersey
  • Atlantic City, New Jersey

Looks like Connecticut isn’t alone when it comes to disappointing travelers — the whole Northeast took a few hits.
