My headline comes courtesy of blogger, Kim Bongiorno from Letmestartbysaying.com. For many of us coffee drinkers, one of life's simple pleasures is that first cup of coffee in the morning. Leaving out the franchised coffee shops like Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, and McDonalds, let's take a look at some of the Danbury area's privately owned coffee shops.

1. RUMORS EUROPEAN COFFEEHOUSELocated at 22 Mill Plain Road, Rumors scores almost 5 stars on Yelp.comFrom an iced latte to a fresh cappuccino to a regular good old cup of coffee, Rumor's also offers freshly baked goods and a light breakfast menu.

2. THE GOODIE SHOPPELocated at 1 Brush Hill Road in the New Fairfield Shopping Center, Marc Jayson,  the owner and  master baker, has transformed his shop into a warm and inviting coffeehouse offering homemade baked goods along with home baked bread. My personal favorites, the "chocolate chip cake," "black & white cookies, and any of his hand crafted breads.

3. MOLTEN JAVA: Located in the Dolan Plaza at 213 Greenwood Ave. in Bethel, Molten Java is celebrating their 12th Anniversary! Besides their wide range of coffee drinks, they're open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7 days a week. On Wednesday evenings through December, enjoy the "Jazz Jam" at 8pm.
