Watch Bryan Adams Join Taylor Swift for Live ‘Summer of ’69’
Bryan Adams joined Taylor Swift on stage in Toronto, ON last night (Aug. 4) to help her cover his iconic track “Summer of ’69” on the second night of her Reputation tour stop in the city, at the Rogers Centre. You can watch the performance below.
“This is one of my favorite songs ever written,” Swift said while messing about with the opening chords. She added with a laugh: “It’s not one of mine. But I was wondering, like, you guys have been singing so loud all night, But I really want to see how loud it can be, right? … So if you’ve been saving your voice for a moment in the show, this is the moment.” She started the song before Adams joined in, with no vocal introduction but with his name flashed on the stage screens.
After the song, Swift’s band played a reprise as she asked the audience to “make the most noise you can possibly make” for him. He waved and bowed, but said nothing as the pair walked off together. “Summer of ’69” was the 15th song of the night and appeared at the end of the show’s fourth act of six. Swift has been adding a one-off song to most of the Reputation tour shows.
James Corden recently revealed that Adams was one of the few artists who’d been signed up to take part in the Late Late Show’s “Carpool Karaoke” segment but then refused to complete filming. "For the anniversary of Back to the Future, we were gonna do a sort of 'Best of the ’80s' Carpool Karaoke — in a DeLorean,” Corden said, before reporting that Adams “just bolted. He was gone.” But he blamed the incident on Adams’ management for not explaining the concept to him, adding: “he’s got hits for days, he’s terrific.”
