Brookfield Man Arrested After Robbing + Fleeing a Bethel Convenience Store, Police Say
A Brookfield man has been arrested after robbing a convenience store on Stony Hill Road in Bethel.
On Thursday afternoon (Feb. 23), The Bethel Police Department took to Facebook with the following post, letting the public know that they were searching for a suspect who they believed robbed hundreds from a register at the convenience store located at 82 Stony Hill Road.
Then, on Friday night, the BPD published another social media post explaining that with the help of the convenience store's surveillance footage, they were able to identify 32-year-old, Maxwell N. Mulligan, of Brookfield as the man who jumped across the counter while the clerk had the register drawer open and stole the money.
The report says that in the late afternoon/early evening on Friday (Feb. 24), the Wilton Police Department located Mulligan, and took him into custody based on an arrest warrant obtained by Bethel's PD.
While the investigation is still considered open, Maxwell N. Mulligan has been charged with robbery and larceny, and is being held on a $20,000 bond.
The Bethel PD also noted the fact that despite being seen wearing a Petro Oil sweatshirt in the surveillance footage, Mulligan is not an employee and is not affliated with the company.
The BPD thanked the departments that helped them with located the suspect:
