I spend a lot of time telling people where they should not go, I figured I would start pointing out some places that are worth a trip.

That said, I wanted to start with my favorite gas station, The Brookfield Sunoco owned by Mitchell Fuel on Federal Road. I have certain needs that must be met at a gas station/convenience store, and they are:

  • Fair gas prices
  • Good coffee
  • Fast lines
  • Open 24 hours

I get out of bed between 3:30 am and 4:00 each morning so I need a 24 hour per day spot and there are not a ton of those in the Greater Danbury area. Some of the 24 hour spots are not inviting, have nasty staff, bad coffee and look like a great place to get mugged.

This is not the case at the Brookfield Sunoco owned by Mitchell. The parking lot is well lit, the coffee is top notch and I get to see my guys Amit and Sidduque each morning.

This is Amit, the Store Manager.

And then there is Sidduque, the Robin to Amit's Batman.

These two are friendly and welcoming first thing in the morning, they are quick with a joke or a light of your smoke. The last thing I want to encounter, first thing in the morning, is an employee, or several employees with bad attitudes. It's hard to start your day with someone who is miserable. These guys smile, ask you how you are doing and help you if you need it.

NOTE - Gas Prices listed on sign above have gone down since the photo was taken.

The most important thing to me is not to get stuck waiting in line and that is why I became a loyal fan of the Brookfield Sunoco owned by Mitchell, they have a rule that keeps things moving. You are not allowed to scratch your lotto tickets at the counter or in the line.

The first time I saw this, I knew my gas station/convenience store prayers were answered. A gas station is not a casino and some of us just want to get moving and begin our day with a hot cup of coffee. Go lose money in your car, or home, not in front of me.

This is not some kind of goof or joke, I'm dead-ass serious about this. The beginning of my day is vital to how the rest of it goes, and it's always a good start for me at the Brookfield Sunoco owned by Mitchell.

Enthusiastic and Exuberant – My Weekend at Danbury’s San Gennaro Festival

Danbury's first-ever San Gennaro Festival took place over the weekend on Ives Street. Thousands of people were in attendance each day and it's one of the best events I've ever attended. I was lucky enough to be able to work the event, broadcasting live Friday, Saturday and Sunday with I-95. I personally spoke to hundreds of people, and was able to work and see family and friends. I was so filled with excitement, exuberance and enthusiasm all weekend long.

The First Night of the Danbury San Gennaro Festival Was a Huge Hit

The Italian culture can be explained in one word, Sunday. Being an Italian-American means, there are certainties on Sunday, Food, family and laughter. Trust me when I tell you, everyday is Sunday at San Gennaro.
