Brookfield First Selectman Seeks Reelection: ‘Excited to Keep the Momentum’
In November of 2021, Tara Carr unseated Steve Dunn and became First Selectman of Brookfield, CT.
Believe it or not, it's almost time to decide again and Tara Carr wants to keep the job. The First Selectman was our guest on the Monday (5/8/23) edition of the I-95 Morning Show and we asked her about it.
You have big news I hear?
"I do, I have announced that I will be running for reelection. It's amazing that almost two years has gone by since I stuck my neck out there for this and here I am eighteen months in office and it's go time again. I made the decision, had to get it out there and I'm happy about it. I'll be having a formal announcement here in the coming weeks to get it out there and let everyone know that I'm super excited to keep up the momentum. It's still early in the Republican selection process so there is a lot of work yet to be done but if we stay the course and stay united we're going to keep Brookfield on the right trajectory. So, I'm up for the challenge."
What have you learned since you took office?
"Every day is an adventure and Brookfield is the great community that I'd hoped it would still be when moving my family back here. Brookfield is a great community, I'm happy and proud to represent it every single day. We've got such amazing people not only working for the town of Brookfield but the residents as well. Brookfield has grown tremendously and it's grown for the better. We've got new residents especially because of COVID so that is good. We're building a new elementary school as you know which will be opening in the fall so that is very exciting."
She continued:
"There is a lot going on, we're not without our challenges but there is 168 other towns in Connecticut that also have challenges so we're not alone. But, we're still a fantastic place to live and work, grow and raise children so I'm very proud of that."
