Putnam County Deputies Arrest Brewster Man Twice in 18 Hours
According to a press release from the Putnam County Sheriff's Department, a 24-year-old Brewster man was arrested twice in less than 18 hours following two separate incidents that involved an alleged robbery, an assault, and a reported forcible touching aboard a train.
Sheriff's Deputies first dealt with Diego Rodriguez-Ordonez early September 29th after being called to a Sinclair gas station in Kent around 3:05 a.m. Deputies were assisting Kent Police, who say Rodriguez-Ordonez allegedly assaulted a store employee who tried to stop him from stealing merchandise.
Deputies eventually found Rodriguez-Ordonez hiding in a swampy area near the gas station and took him into custody. Kent Police charged him with robbery and assault. He was also charged with felony criminal mischief in connection with a separate incident at a nearby bank.
That could have been the end of it for the day, but apparently not.
Around 9:09 that night, Sheriff's Deputies were called to the Southeast train station after a female passenger reported that she had been forcibly touched by a man aboard a train. The suspect had already taken off by the time deputies arrived.
A deputy soon located Rodriguez-Ordonez near the train yard. According to the Sheriff's Department, he refused multiple commands and resisted being taken into custody. A Taser was deployed, and deputies were eventually able to arrest him.
He was charged with forcible touching, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, and criminal trespass. He was arraigned in Southeast Justice Court, where bail was set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
Sheriff Brian Hess said the two cases involved two different victims and happened within roughly 18 hours. Authorities also said neither victim suffered serious injuries.
Rodriguez-Ordonez faces charges from both incidents.
