According to police, Kent Ambulance was accompanied by EmStar medic as they were dispatched to Pudding Street in Putnam Valley for a male that reported to have chest pain.

When medics arrived on the scene of the Pudding Street home, they were met by a man with a shotgun. Police say the medic was able to retreat to safety and then contacted Putnam 911 to report the situation that was currently happening. The Sheriff's Office immediately responded to the situation.

Putnam County Sheriff's Office explained that they kept their distance but kept the subject in sight at all times, and one member of the Sheriff's Office noticed the male point the shotgun in their direction and fire a round in the air.

Multiple police arrived on scene including New York State Police, Town of Kent Police, Town of Carmel Police and the Putnam County Emergency Response Team. After police confined the area of the property, the man entered the front doorway of his home and took his own life.

As the situation unfolded, a big thank you to all first responders for always putting their life on the line to make sure the public stays safe.

You have this quiet, beautiful place that is dedicated to the people who were buried there, in the middle of a busy city and almost no one ever goes there. I decided to go take a deeper look around and see what was beyond the iron gates and stone walls.

Behind the Walls of CT's Abandoned Norwich State Hospital

In this day and age, mental health treatment is serious business and in most cases, patients are treated with care and respect. This was not always the case in the U.S. and hospitals dedicated to the "mentally ill" became prisons that regularly conducted torture. America is now littered with shuttered hospitals decaying from the inside and the outside. Many believe these places still contain the dark energy left behind by the gruesome acts of the past. One of these places in Norwich State Hospital.
