Bethel PD Announces 20-Year Veteran as New Chief
The year 2020 will certainly be a year many of us would like to forget, however, we would like to focus on the positive moments that have been so far and few between.
Amidst the struggles and stress, Bethel Police Department has found reason to celebrate. Today, on August 21, the department is proudly inducting a new Chief of Police, Stephen Pugner.
Chief Pugner joined the force back in 2000 as a Patrol Officer. During the years, he has transitioned into many roles including; Detective, Patrol Sergeant, and Captain. He is also trained in Accident Reconstruction and because of this, served on the Major Accident Team, as a team leader. In addition to this, he also served as a Field Training Coordinator ensuring new officers were assisted with recruitment and hiring.
This dedicated chief holds multiple degrees including; an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Naugatuck Community College, a Bachelor's Degree in Public Safety Administration from Charter Oak State College, and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Marist College.
The Bethel Police Department explains their new Chief as follows:
Our Chief bears overall responsibility for the professional, legal, and efficient operation of the Bethel Police Department. Through both his experience and education, we are exceedingly confident that Chief Pugner will continue to further the success of our department.
The community thanks Chief Pugner for his dedication to the job. Congratulations on the promotion and good luck in the years to come.
