Valentine's Day is wonderful for some, and awful for those who've recently ended a relationship. If you are maybe a little bitter and want a revenge, here's something that may cheer you up: For a small fee, an animal shelter here in Connecticut will name one of their cats after your ex, and you can also pay to have it neutered.

I just saw a unique idea for a Valentine's Day gift for yourself in a social media post from Friends of East Haddam Animal Control. According to the post, they invite you to 'Celebrate your ex this Valentine's Day and show how much you treasure them by naming or neutering a local cat in their honor'. Unique, right?

This is not a new concept in Connecticut, for the past couple of years Enfield's Riverside Reptiles has come up with interesting ways on previous Valentine's Days to honor your ex. Riverside has named cockroaches and rats over the past couple of years, which were then fed to the reptiles in their facility. Neutering a cat is a new one.

I'm sure that the East Haddam/Moodus animal rescues will go through with the plan, the link on the Friends of East Haddam Animal Control to sign up for the naming and neutering brings you to a GoFundMe page, which explains that over 30 kittens and cats have been rescued over the past year, and although several businesses in town have donated, their general funds have gone dry. Good idea for a good cause. I hope there are less kittens in East Haddam and Moodus.

Five Businesses That We Will Never, Ever See Here in Connecticut

You can get almost anything that your heart desires in the State of Connecticut, except for the products produced by these five national retailers and fast-food companies. The only way to enjoy anything from the following places is traveling out of Connecticut, or ordering it on Amazon, and a burger isn't the same after jetting across country.
