First of all, let me clarify my definition of a Dive Bar, which I borrowed from John Marshall's book, 'Dive Bar Connoisseurs' where he stated:

Once considered a derogatory term, dive bar is now a coveted badge of honor bestowed by aficionados looking for authenticity in such establishments.

In other words, a dive bar usually has a local clientele and, in many cases, a place where everybody knows your name. However, every one of the eight is unique and diverse, making them so special.
