4 Italian Restaurants in Greater Danbury Ranked Best in Connecticut
In the latest Connecticut Magazine, you'll find a list of "The Best Connecticut Restaurants for 2021" according to their readers and according to their 'experts.' In this article, we're taking a closer look at specific Italian restaurants.
This an excellent tool when you're looking for a new restaurant to try or you don't feel like taking a chance on an eatery unless you know it's been recommended. That's how I found out about the Newtown eatery, Sal e Pepe which is one of the four finest Italian restaurants in the greater Danbury area.
Sal e Pepe, Newtown - Reader's Choice
I remember when we were celebrating restaurant week a couple of years ago and the owner and chef from Sal e Pepe brought along a couple of outrageous samples from their menu selections. My favorites from their menu are "Maine Mussels" for starters and for the entrée, "Shrimp and Scallops Risotto".
Lucia Ristorante, New Milford - Reader's Choice
Lucia is located on Bank Street right across the street from the Bank Street theatre. This gem of a restaurant has everything you're looking for when going out for dinner like great ambiance, delicious food, and an excellent waitstaff. My choices are the "Calamari Lucia" appetizer and their "Seafood Paella" for dinner.
The Painted Lemon, Sherman - Reader's Choice
This new restaurant in the middle of the quaint little town of Sherman features an extraordinary dining experience from their old Italian recipes to their seasonal specials and their impressive service. Take my advice and make a reservation. My favorite appetizer is the "Eggplant Parmigiana" and for my main course I highly recommend their "Fettucine Bolognese!" OMG...
La Tavola, Waterbury - Expert's Choice
This is the only restaurant of the four I haven't tried..yet. What got me right away was the dining room where you're surrounded by beautiful wine shelves. If I was handed a menu right now, I would choose the "Hand Made Ravioli" appetizer and then the "Pan Seared Diver Sea Scallops" for my entrée. Bon Appetit!
